Let’s talk about making money with Google ads on YouTube. Now, without further ado. Oh, I have said this a lot on my channel, probably too many times. And I’m going to keep saying it again and again until it is so ingrained in your brains that you were talking about it in your sleep and your spouses think that you have officially lost your mind.
But it is so important when you are building a blogging business to have multiple streams of revenue.
That is that you’re just making money in multiple ways. You’re not just getting ad revenue. You’re not just making affiliate sales. You’re not just selling your own products.
You’re doing a little bit of everything so that you can, you know, create a more consistent income and also protect yourself from fluctuations throughout the years.
And hey, do not leave after a share the exact amount for my first check, because in this video, I’m also going to be sharing all of the major things that I think really made a difference, because now, a couple years later, every single month, I can count on that ad revenue from from the Google ads from YouTube.
So that YouTube check, if you will, every single month. And so it’s become something that’s very dependable for me.
And I love having another stable source of income. And I’m going to be sharing my top tips for you so that if you two are interested in spending the next couple of years really creating a fabulous YouTube channel, then you also can get to that same point, hopefully with some of the tips that I have. So be sure to hit that like button if you’re excited to see more of the YouTube aspect of it and be sure to check the links down below.
If you’re interested in my other blogging business income and expense reports, I don’t do them every single month, but I have done a couple of them. And you guys really love to see them.
So if you’re interested in seeing the breakdown of not just how I make money from YouTube, but how I make money and where I make money and all the other aspects of my blogging business, be sure to check those. But without further ado, let’s get into the nitty gritty here and talk about some figures.
So the first video that I ever posted on YouTube ever, ever was back on September 15th, 2016. It feels like a lifetime ago. It was only seven minutes long and it was terrible. I cringe.
I am embarrassed every time I look at that video. But I will leave it linked up above for you if you want to go watch some cringe worthy moments of Alison before she was comfortable on camera. I had no experience being on camera. I was very nervous.
I didn’t have the best equipment, but I was just kind of going into it head first saying, you know, I’m going to practice, practice, practice, practice until you get it right.
And thankfully, I have become much more comfortable on camera. But you’ll see that really the important thing is just getting started. And my first YouTube check that I ever received wasn’t until June of twenty seventeen. And the amount came to one hundred and ninety one dollars and fifty four cents.
Now, I probably would have received my check a little bit sooner. And here’s why. When I signed up for Google ads within the YouTube platform and I started posting videos on YouTube, I kind of was not really focused on the ad revenue.
I was just using it to kind of support and work in conjunction with my blog. So I never gave Google ads my payment information. So I had hit the threshold that they have.
You have to make at least a hundred dollars in ad revenue before Google ads will send you a check for your YouTube ads. And I probably hit that one hundred dollars before that.
I couldn’t find the information of like what month I actually hit that. But I did eventually get paid one hundred ninety one dollars and fifty four cents in June of twenty seventeen because I went and looked and I was like, how am I making any money off of these.
Oh my gosh I have almost two hundred dollars. Why haven’t I been paid. And then I realized I forgot to put my payment information on there. So don’t be stupid like me.
Make sure you put your payment information on there. So a couple days later I received another check and that was just over one hundred dollars in the same month. But the first check that I ever received from YouTube, big for my Google ads was one hundred ninety one dollars and fifty four cents.
So obviously, September, October, November, December, Jenea, February, March, April, May, June. Nine months took me nine months to get my first ever cheque.
And if you are making money with YouTube through the Google ads, then like I mentioned, they have that hundred dollar minimum threshold that you have to get to.
So here are the stats that I looked at because I felt like. Seeing that figure, seen that one hundred ninety one dollars doesn’t really give you like the whole picture. How many videos was I posting?
You know, how what was going on there? So in the nine months from September 2016 to June 2017,Forty five. That’s an average of like, I do not keep up with that anymore. If you are you. I don’t post more than once a week. That is just not something I do.
But at the time, OK, so let’s talk about some of the things that I think really made a huge difference.
So when somebody gets on YouTube dot com and they did a little search bar and they search for something, So this does not just mean the title. I’m also talking about the description and I am talking about utilizing the tags portion that YouTube allows you to use, like in when you’re in the upload process.
I’ll leave a screenshot of what I’m talking about right here, because that is the best I can do in describing it right now.
The keywords have played a massive factor and I honestly, truly believe that I would not have the consistent monthly income I have from YouTube alone right now if I hadn’t used those keywords.
you know, it stunk. So it had really great content. I think I had good tips in it. Obviously know what I’m talking about.
And I use the right keywords, but the quality and the cringeworthy moments of how Alison was obviously uncomfortable being in front of the camera. I feel like really should have counted against me.
But because I use as proper keywords and because, you know, it wasn’t just fluff, it was actually helpful content. It’s already gotten up to 20000 views. Now, my biggest video ever, and I’m sure for a lot of you this is how you’ve found me, was my video on how I made my first ever two hundred dollars blogging.
Four hundred and fifty thousand views. That is insane. And I have not had any other video get to the same level as that one.
But being able to look back and be like, what is it I did right there? What was I, what was I doing that really helped push me to that kind of level one, the proper keywords.
And two, I created a video and I remember at the time because I was like, does anybody else have anything like this? No, I couldn’t really find another video that was exactly like that.
I got to that first check and where it is. I made that money and things like that. So I wouldn’t say that it was a hot topic. You’re not necessarily looking to create videos that are already insanely popular.
Now, the second tip I would have for you is that consistency obviously helps at this point in the game.
I don’t post every single solitary week because I’m also running the blog and I’m also selling products. So you guys are already probably know this. I have a blogging course called Blogging to Win.
And then I also have a membership club called the Blogging Business Club. So every single month, especially with the blogging business club and posting new content, I’ve got new lessons for my students and I’m sharing stuff.
So I’m pretty busy and I’m not able to post on the YouTube channel every single week like I wish I could. But I am at least consistently posting every other week or every couple of weeks, especially when I started the YouTube channel. but at this point I would just say consistency is key.
So if you can post every single month or every single week, make sure that you commit to it and you keep doing it. I would say respond really well to a video that makes them feel inspired and just.
Have this like energy, they really feed off the energy that you give them to go out and tackle something themselves.
They are more likely to come back to your channel and watch more stuff. Now, I am still truly a blogger. If you didn’t know this already.
And then in addition to that, I also have products. So I’m kind of making everything tie in with it with with my blogging business. I’m not just focusing on focusing on just the YouTube channel or just the blog or just the products.
I’m really making everything work together. you know, a more humanized brand and for connecting with people on a different level that other folks that are not utilizing videos are not really able to get to.
So if you are a blogger and you really want to see the behind the scenes steps of exactly how I combine YouTube with my blog and how I use the power of YouTube to grow my blog even more and make more sales. Be sure to check out the blogging business club.
I have extensive, very thorough lessons in there that I give to my students. This most especially applies for any of you that are bloggers that also sell products.
And I kind of have like this witch’s brew where I combine it all together and I have a certain process that I go through a certain funnel and I share that entire funnel within the blogging business club.
So if you’re interested. Be sure to check out the link below or just go to blogging business club dot com and join and then you can access that funnel.
